PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE AND LIFESTYLE MEDICINE: STRATEGIES FOR REDUCING THE BURDEN OF CHRONIC DISEASES
Abstract
Abstract: Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, cancer, and respiratory disorders have become major public health concerns worldwide. These diseases contribute significantly to morbidity, mortality, and healthcare expenditures. Preventive healthcare and lifestyle medicine have emerged as effective approaches to reducing the burden of chronic diseases by focusing on risk reduction, early intervention, and healthy behavioral changes. Lifestyle medicine emphasizes evidence-based practices including healthy nutrition, regular physical activity, stress management, adequate sleep, avoidance of harmful substances, and social connectedness. This study examines the role of preventive healthcare and lifestyle medicine in improving population health outcomes and reducing chronic disease prevalence. The paper discusses key strategies, benefits, challenges, and future prospects while highlighting the importance of integrating preventive approaches into healthcare systems. The findings indicate that preventive healthcare and lifestyle medicine can significantly improve quality of life, reduce healthcare costs, and promote sustainable health outcomes.
