Abstract

Abstract - Sustainable development is a global approach that seeks to balance economic growth, environmental protection, and social well-being to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Science plays a fundamental role in achieving sustainable development by providing knowledge, innovation, and evidence-based solutions to complex global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, food insecurity, public health crises, and environmental degradation. Scientific research and technological advancements contribute to the development of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management systems, healthcare innovations, and efficient resource utilization. Furthermore, science supports informed policymaking through accurate data collection, environmental monitoring, and risk assessment. The integration of science with education, technology, and public participation strengthens sustainable development efforts at local, national, and global levels. This paper explores the concept of sustainable development, examines the role of science in various sectors, discusses major challenges, and highlights future prospects for scientific contributions toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
