Abstract

Abstract - Student-centered learning has emerged as one of the most effective approaches in modern education by shifting the focus from teacher-directed instruction to active student participation. Unlike traditional teaching methods, student-centered learning emphasizes individual learning needs, interests, abilities, and experiences, enabling learners to take greater responsibility for their education. Contemporary educational practices integrate collaborative learning, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, experiential learning, personalized instruction, and digital technologies to create engaging and meaningful learning environments. These approaches foster critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and lifelong learning skills. Although student-centered learning offers numerous advantages, challenges such as teacher preparedness, assessment methods, infrastructure limitations, and curriculum adaptation remain. This paper examines the concept, principles, major approaches, benefits, challenges, and future directions of student-centered learning in modern education.
