Abstract

Abstract - English Language Teaching (ELT) has undergone significant transformation in response to globalization, technological advancement, and changing educational needs. Traditional grammar-focused instruction has gradually been replaced by learner-centered, communicative, and technology-enhanced approaches that emphasize practical language use, critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy. Modern ELT integrates methods such as Communicative Language Teaching, Task-Based Language Teaching, Content and Language Integrated Learning, Blended Learning, Flipped Classroom, Project-Based Learning, and Artificial Intelligence-assisted instruction. These approaches aim to develop learners’ listening, speaking, reading, writing, and intercultural communication skills in authentic contexts. This paper examines the evolution of English language teaching, major modern approaches and methods, the role of technology, benefits, challenges, and future prospects of ELT in the twenty-first century.
