Abstract

Abstract - English has emerged as the world's most influential global language, serving as a common medium of communication across nations, cultures, and professional fields. It plays a vital role in international business, education, science, technology, diplomacy, tourism, media, and digital communication. The widespread use of English has created numerous opportunities for individuals and societies by facilitating global connectivity, economic growth, access to knowledge, and cross-cultural interaction. At the same time, the dominance of English presents several challenges, including linguistic inequality, the decline of indigenous languages, cultural homogenization, and unequal access to quality English education. In today's globalized and digital world, English functions as a bridge connecting people from diverse linguistic backgrounds while coexisting with many local and regional languages. This paper examines the concept of English as a global language, its historical development, opportunities, challenges, and future prospects in the twenty-first century.
