Abstract

Abstract - Modern English is one of the most influential and widely spoken languages in the world. It has evolved through centuries of linguistic, cultural, political, and technological developments. Emerging from the Early Modern English period during the Renaissance, Modern English expanded rapidly due to the invention of the printing press, the Industrial Revolution, British colonial expansion, and the rise of the United States as a global power. Today, English functions as the primary language of international communication, science, technology, business, education, diplomacy, and digital media. The language continues to grow through the adoption of new vocabulary, technological innovations, globalization, and intercultural communication. This paper examines the history, development, characteristics, global expansion, contemporary trends, challenges, and future prospects of Modern English.
