Abstract

Abstract - The English language is one of the most widely spoken and influential languages in the world today. Its development has been shaped by historical events, cultural exchanges, political changes, technological advancements, and globalization. Originating from the Germanic dialects brought to Britain by the Anglo-Saxons in the fifth century, English has undergone significant transformations through the Old English, Middle English, Early Modern English, and Modern English periods. The influence of Latin, French, Greek, and numerous other languages has enriched English vocabulary and grammar, making it one of the most flexible and dynamic languages in the world. Today, English serves as a global lingua franca in education, science, business, diplomacy, media, and digital communication.
